AEM has updated its CD-7 Digital Dash Display from an aluminum enclosure to a carbon fiber composite enclosure and in the process has reduced its mass from 740g/26.1 oz. to only 595g/20.9oz. That’s almost 1/3rd lbs. less and makes the CD-7 Carbon the lightest graphical dash of its size among major competitors! The new CD-7 Carbon digital displays also have optional integrated 20Hz GPS, which replaces the dash packages that included a Vehicle Dynamics Module. Of course, the Vehicle Dynamics Module still works with any CD Digital Dash Display and can be purchased separately.

Overview

CD-7 Carbon Digital Dash Displays feature a full-color, daylight readable screen surrounded by a tough, lightweight flow-molded carbon fiber composite housing. Seven ultra-bright LEDs span the top of the display housing for RPM and shift light indication. Users can program them to ascend in specific increments based on RPM range and flash when it is time to shift. Brightness is user programmable on the fixed color LEDs. Two large buttons are included on the face of the display, allowing easy page changing and memory resetting even with driving gloves on. These button functions are included in the supplied rear connector, allowing the user to mount remote buttons. Two additional programmable LEDs are located above the toggle buttons on the top of the housing on either side of the integrated LED shift lights.

View and log data from over 250 CAN devices!

The CD-7 Carbon receives channels from two independent CAN bus inputs and it does not require special modules to read AEM and/or 3rd-party CAN signals. We have validated it to communicate with over 250 non-AEM devices, 2008-up stock ECUs via the OBDII port (see Supported Apps Tab), and the CD-7 Carbon can be added to any vehicle with the addition of our 22 Channel CAN Sensor Module. The CD-7 Carbon is ECU CAN ready and does not require external modules for CAN to CAN communication, just load your configuration and go! All channels can be named in virtually any language so that the information displayed makes sense to the user when displayed, whether on the main screens or warning alerts. Third-party systems will require download of 3rd party DBC CAN bus protocol files for proper operation if they are not included in our setup software. We currently have over 250 validated 3rd party applications, and include a CD Dash Power Cable to simplify the installation of 3rd party devices. AEM’s Universal High Flow -10 AN Inline Filter is specifically engineered for maximizing flow without sacrificing filtration, and is designed for ease of installation. The end caps are machined with -10AN female fittings that allow the filter to flow up to 12.32 gpm at 45 PSI and 2.63 gpm at 6 PSI. Machined O-ring receiver grooves on the end caps ensure against leaks, and all sealing o-rings and gaskets are made of Viton for outstanding performance when using gasoline, alcohol or gasoline/alcohol blended fuels. The commonly available replacement filter cartridges filter particles as small as 7 microns. The filter’s standard 2” OD allows for easy mounting virtually anywhere in the vehicle for easy access. A favorite for sedan and stock car racers, the GP-5W offers a wider eyeport and lightweight construction making for a durable and versatile helmet. Head and Neck Restraint devices with the standard 6mm helmet bolt can be easily added with the new M6 washer nut installed at the factory. The helmet is SA2020 certified.

ScLc Construction It’s constructed of Arai’s exclusive, very-lightweight ScLc shell technology (Super Complex Laminate Construction), so it maintains a low overall weight to offset the added weight of the larger shield.

Shell Shape It has a smaller, more “natural” head shape, and a lower center of gravity to balance and stabilize the helmet so it feels even lighter, thereby helping to reduce fatigue.

Interior Fit The interior fit is typical Arai, benefitting from over 50 years of research and refinement, and resulting in a helmet that, as mentioned previously, more closely matches the shape of the human head. The first is snug, allowing for the smallest possible helmet to be worn while still being comfortable.

Wider Eyeport Larger 90mm eyeport, top to bottom, than comparable Arai models, provides a better vertical view desired by many sedan drivers. For drivers not needing a shield, a visor peak option is available.

Removable/Replaceable Cheekpads The cheekpads are removable and washable for easier cleaning. More importantly, they’re replaceable with optional sizes of varying thicknesses for a more custom, personalized fit.

VentilationThe upper ventilation system incorporates two large intake ducts and the same two exhaust vent ducts found on the GP-5(PED). This vent system allows for improved air flow even within the confines of a sedan or closed cockpit.

M6 Anchor Type Integrated seats to accommodate a variety of Head and Neck Restraint devices. Pre-Installed M6 threaded washer/nut, with 6mm threads, to accept a variety of anchors systems for variety of Head and Neck Restraint devices and make installation much easier for people not familiar with such installations.
